How to get to Sihanoukville

By Casper | February 7, 2008

Ok, just for those who would like to pay a visit to Sihanoukville, Cambodia …… here’s the easiest way to get here.

If coming from Thailand, fly from Bangkok to Phnom Penh. This costs around 4400 THB with Bangkok Air or as little as 2000 THB with Air Asia.

Get a Taxi from Phnom Penh, either from the Taxi Booth at the airport exit or from Mr Sok Eang (Smiley). He runs a Taxi and Tuk Tuk Service for tours around the Capital. His number is +855 1260 8247 or email engsmilly012608247@yahoo.com ……. seems a good enough chap.

Where to stay? Depends what you’re after, if it’s just general drinking and socialising, then The Walkabout Bar is as good a place as any. The place is wall to wall with ‘taxi girls’, but as long as that doesn’t bother you, it’s a very good value accommodation option with good beers and food.

Something better placed would be the Tonle Sap Guesthouse. This is part of, and situated above, the Pickled Parrot on 104th Street.

They serve a decent meal, with both Western and Asian tastes catered for. They have some pretty good looking girls working there, but it really isn’t ‘that kind of place’. The girls are genuine waiteresses and bar staff. Try to pinch a ‘backside’ here and you will be asked to leave.

Room prices at the Tonle Sap Guesthouse start from 15usd and they have free Wifi.

Next morning, pack your bags, leave the Pickled Parrot, turn right and right again and 60 seconds later you’ll see this place.

Here you can book your ticket to Sihanoukville for 5usd. I got the 13:45 bus, but they have earlier ones too.

Finally at the scheduled time, jump on this …….
