On the 19th July, a number of bar owners have put their heads together and organised a Bar Crawl around Sihanoukville.

This one has a pretty good twist to it though.

There are seven bars involved, covering the three areas of town (Occheuteal, Downtown, Victory Hill) and at each bar participents will receive One Playing Card. At the end of the evening, you'll have Seven Cards ........ a Poker Hand Smiley

The winner will receive .... er ...... a prize? (details are a little sketchy!)

There will be a cost to enter the crawl, around $6 usd, but this includes a T-Shirt with which to remember the night. Transport between the bars will be 'up to you' and I believe there will be 1 hour (inc travelling time) between bars.

Sounds like a great night ahead and a really good way for newcomers to the town to see locations that they may not discover on their own.

Looking forward to it!

Ok, been out and got the 'info' on this ........

$6 usd includes a T-Shirt and food at two of the bars through the night.

Starting point will be the Mosquito Bar up on Victory Hill @ 5pm. The last bar(s) will be Plastic Paddy's and The Shipwreck Bar, both at the entrance to the Golden Lion Plaza.

A mini-bus will be available to take people around the bars, however it's only a 14 seater and so far around 40 tickets have been sold, sounds like quite a few will be on the back of Moto's!

Throughout the night there will be a few 'spot prizes' as well as prizes for the Best and Worst Poker had at the end of the seven bars.

The bars are (in no particular order!) ......

Angelo's
Plastic Paddy's
The Shipwreck
Mosquito
Reef Resort
G'day Mate
Cool Banana

So? What happened then? Was it as good as you hoped it would be?

To be honest, it pretty much sucked.

Partly our own fault and partly down tothe organisation of it.

We arrived late from Phnom Penh, but since I'd paid upfront for the three of us I didn't think this would be a problem.

We missed the first two bars, that said, they left the 2nd bar early (the Emerald Bar) because the staff were incapable of serving the number of people that turned up. Every bar was informed beforehand, but the owner here had to return to Ireland and only left two staff to run the place.

Anyway, we didn't get cards towards our Poker Hand ..... no problem there, we were late, our problem.

We also didn't get the T-Shirts, despite paying for them. They ran out apparently. But since all the barowners wives, girlfiriends and staff were wearing them ..... I can see why!

This pissed me off a little, mainly because i'd 'sold' the event to Dacah and TelF and wasn't happy at the (lack of) organisation.

Next came the food. Two bars were going to give food, the Reef Resort which does pretty good mexican was one of them. When we got there, it was a struggle to get food and what did arrive was hotter than a thai girls somtam! Completely inedible.

Anyway after this, not too mention me the heated debate between me and a drunken, abusive restaurant owner who couldn't keep his nose out of our discussion with the organisers ..... we left the crawl.

To be fair, I got the impression that it wasn't the fault of the two people that initially started to organise the event. Somewhere along the lines it had snowballed and too many people had become involved. This led to a number of brakedowns.

Anyway, we were offered our money back ....... so no harm, no foul.

Maybe sort out a crawl of our own next time though!

Sounds like they should have capped the crawl at (say) 15 or maybe 20 people. That would have eliminated the bloat which seemed to have cursed the event.

It would have ensured that you got your t-shirts, poker card and food as well.

Hopefully some lessons were learned and the next one will be better for it.

They had wags with them on a bar crawl?
Or did the wags and staff get them at the bars you visited

Shame but maybe they learned and the next one will be better.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of these places.

Cheers!

Yes, Wives and Girlfriends on the crawl, fully T-Shirted up ....... whether they paid or not I don't know. Obviously I'm guessing that the staff in every bar didn't buy the shirts.

Anyway, like you you guys say, I'm sure the next one will be better ..... first attempt and lessons, i'm sure, have been learned.

A good bunch of guys worked hard behind the scenes, shame it went the way it did.

My take on it Casper was that there were too may Chiefs...

The many barowners had their own agenda...

It could work out again but with strict control..

and with all the shinannigans going on it did show that ...

Casper Security could be a goer Grin
