Know a couple of people that have been there planning to stay for a few nights ....... one group came back the same day, another stayed one night. Sounds like it's just the same :)

Only thing to buy is pepper
the best in the world.
Notmuch else to detain the eye, spirit or heart.

Ok the lack of response has convinced me nothing has changed since my last visit over 9 months ago!.
But surely it's got to be better than Koh Kong where there are no bars left at all?? :hmm:

It looks like I was there just about the same time you were. Seemed to me that they just about rolled up the sidewalks after 9pm. Not much going on.

Depends a lot on what you are looking for re bars in Kampot. On the riverfront you have Wunderbar, Madi Bar, and Oh Neils. The first two are open til midnight and Oh Neils often open til the wee small hours. Back from the front you have Bar Red, Indochine and ABC bar. Many of these have live music through the week. Many of the Western run restaurants/guesthouses have bars (Magic Sponge, Blissful, Bokor Mountain Lodge, Rusty Keyhole, Frangipanni, Pepper Guesthouse and slightly out of town Green House, Bodhi Villa etc) which may stay open til midnight depending on the number of customers.
This needs updating but more info here: http://wikitravel.org/en/Kampot
