Hi all,

Yesterday this forum appeared to be shut down, but today it is back up. I see no new posts since Tony left us, so maybe this will be the first. I hope someone will take over and keep it running. It has been very useful for me in the two years I've been in Snook. Okay, some times silly, but still fun and entertaining. Let's keep it going. I'm ready to help if needed.

There's another part of the forum for "secure" members, whatever that means - maybe it's after drinking copious amounts of beer? - and as Tony had Admin privileges we can't do much and have no control over this forum, until the passwords and logins are recovered from his laptop.

Also, it seems you can't access this forum on mobile devices (iPhone anyway) so that may be a future issue.

Nice to finally get a reply. Where is the server that hosts the forum? What OS (operating system) is it running?

Whether it's Windows or Linux it should be possible to find a software 'crack' that can over ride the admin account or create a new admin account.

When I worked for Amazon in Seattle doing tech support we had to do this all the time. Users would leave the company and their passworded laptops behind. We were required to extract the data before we could reformat the PC. The software was Linux which  you could boot from a CD or USB drive. From Linux you can access all the windows files, not the other way around, and make changes.

Try this search: "crack admin password"  This is where I would start if I knew the OS.

Hmm. So if the laptop is in the UK who is hosting this forum? I saw in the last few days that the forum was closed presumably for non payment of hosting fees, but now it's back up.

Someone must be paying to keep it online. Tony was too tech savvy to be running a forum like this from a laptop. There would need to be a desktop machine with a persistent internet connection and running web server OS like Apache. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_HTTP_Server

Many questions. I would like to see it stay alive. Are there any online alternatives? Today I'll walk over to CH and see if anyone there knows anything. My hunch is that the box is right there behind the counter.

It means that if you are a registered member you have access to topics for secure members. Anyone who isn't a member can view topics on the forum but cannot make any comments. The general public cannot view the part for secure members.

^ It was a failed attempt at humour, "secure"!  :clueless:

Anyhoo. I don't know who has paid the subs for this website, assuming someone has but then this website is paid up until July 2016, as is charlieharpersbar.com, so maybe there was another reason it was down as fees are usually for 12 months.

Even when Tony was around it used to go tits up.

Good to see it back up.
The membership of the secure area was those who Tony had met personally so "we" are a shrinking group.
I go to see the Temples - right?

Time to give up on this forum, at least for me.

I went to CH a few days ago and talked with Sung Eng. She doesn't know anything about the forum and has no interest in it beyond confirming the passworded laptop in England. I asked to see the desktop behind the counter and she refused so I couldn't even determine if it was running.

Some people there told me that Tony had been moving the 'forum' to Facebook. Most have noticed that there was a big drop in  postings even before Tony left. I don't like Facebook but signed on anyway. A search or Charlie Harper only brought up year old ads. Maybe there is something on there and I just don't know where to look?

Does anyone know of similar spaces to get insider info on Snook like we used to find here?

k440 and ceo  forums both have members that live in sinville

shame.  I preferred the forum to facebook.  I'm on it a bit, but have not 'friended' CH's or other SEA related pages.  all I need is for somebody to post something about hookers or gangbangs (or the like) and have my Aunt see it....  just respect for her, not so much me (that ship has sailed me thinks).    I'm on k440 too, but have had a few issues with responses and got tired of it.   Since I don't know when it will happen and when, one time, I just won't be able to log in, I'll say thanks and adieu now.

cheers

As I have said earlier Sun Eng has very limited English, both reading or writing, and gets other people to send the rare text message. She also has zero or very limited knowledge of computers, she cannot even get the music going and gets the other girls to do it, and will not be aware or be able to do anything with this forum or the FB profile (even if she knew the passwords, which she doesn't as they are on the laptop).
The PC behind the bar has no login or files to do with CH or any forums. The only file it has is for the electricity used for the rooms. There is no email setup in Outlook either.

All files or data is on the Laptop which is in the UK with family, as is the login for his personal FB profile.

This forum was never "moved to Facebook" as such. All Tony said was that people use Facebook now to communicate and that this forum was getting slow traffic wise.

The fact that this is the only thread that has any interest proves Tony's point about not bothering with it, and he has said that to me and others a few times. I don't think he cared that no one used it.

Also, this website and charlieharpersbar are hosted by a web hosting company and I am guessing Tony has other websites with them. I know the subs have been paid but I don't know how long for as it's expensive, as I am assuming they are paying for all his websites he has created.

Tonys Facebook page is still up for what it's worth, some time this year the forum will just stop once the bills are not paid over and out,I guess the name will be offered for sale but the forum has such little  traffic can't see any reason for
anyone to want to take it over.
