Is there a handy map which shows the new bus station location? I think I know where it is, but I'm not totally sure off the top of my head.

Believe it or not, I put into into the front page of the main website last night, it's a 'google map' so that you can drag the map around.

If you drage the map to the right (effectively turning left out of the new bus station) then take the second turning left (down) ...... you'll come across the old bus station, you should be able to get your bearings from their :)

Hello Casper, is that you?
You gave me great advice in November about the bus from PP and I have now booked flights. Arriving May 1 for a couple of weeks to escape my birthday. Have not booked accommodation yet but plan to book Golden Sands for a couple of nights and scope out alternatives of a more rustic nature such as Mick & Craig's or near beach bungalows (any suggestions?). Does this sound like a plan? Another question for you. Are there chemist shops that sell products of a particularly helpful nature over the counter or would it be better to buy them in KL on the way through. Also would you consider it dangerous to bring a large wad of US$ in cash and what are the alternatives. And are Aussie $ useful or a waste of time. This probably sounds so petty to you but I am SO new to this.
I'm really looking forward to having a beer with you and the others.
Thanks,
Jsayla.

Hi Jsayla, glad to see you're making it over here.

Golden Sands is a decent place to stay a lot of guys have stayed there. It's not overly friendly, but ok none the less. You can find out more and book online here - <a href="http://www.hotelscombined.com/Hotel/Golden_Sand_Hotel_Sihanoukville.htm?label=Golden Sands - forum link&brandId=3581&a_aid=6249" target="_blank">The Golden Sands Hotel, Sihanoukville[/url]

You may be ok with a room but booking is always worthwhile in Snooky ..... the rooms can run out pretty quick!

Mick & Craigs is a good place as well, rooms are only 10 dollars per night, clean and well laid out. The food there is highly recommended too. Whilst it's in the middle of 'backpacker central' I don't believe the noise is bad as the rooms are situated right at the back, away from the road.

As for chemists, believe it or not, you can buy what you're looking for at the local supermarkets directly over the counter, no problems. Around $3 at an average.

Bringing funds is always a tricky one, I generally always use my bank debit card whenever I travel. I don't get charged for overseas withdrawals and two of the banks here don't charge a local fee. You still take a hit on the exchange rates though.

If you're going to bring in cash, US dollars is the only way to go ...... I dont think Aussie Dollars get a particularly good rate here. They're really only interested in US dollars and Thai Baht.

Looking forward to sharing a beer :)

Hello All,
Its now 3 weeks before I leave and a couple more days before arriving Sihanoukville. There's not much happening on this forum...please don't tell me Sihanoukville has packed up and gone home.
Cheers,
Jsayla.

Welcome to the forum Bill, you'll find plenty of advice here, there's a few positive Bar owners and a few jaded expats, so you'll get a balanced feedback, lol.

Make a few more posts and we'll see about the secure section, all the best.
