Lions 1 CT Bikers 1
The lions were back in action this past Saturday with a match against the CT Bikers. We had previously played this team twice before and both times  it ended in a stale mate.
So we kicked off with the Khmer team looking confident in possession knocking the ball about the pitch looking to create an opportunity to open up the Lions defense. A couple of corners were  earnt  but the lions defense cleared comfortably. A shot from just inside the penalty area was well saved down at his near post from the Lions keeper apart from this effort all the Khmer  shots were from distance and well wide. Up the other end the Lions were probing and looking likely to score and this they did on the half hour mark a lovely cross from Chris on the left to the back post was nodded back across the Khmer keeper and into the net. Not long after and Kaldy was clean thru on goal but blazed over from close range.so the lions went in at half time a goal to the good.
Off we went for the 2nd half and the Khmer team looked full of running and it was a good run down the  lions left ,the Khmer striker cut inside the Lions defender ,passed the ball round the keeper, for the other Khmer striker to score and bring the score level.
The lions huffed and puffed but were struggling to create any clear cut chances. So set pieces would be the best chance and it came from a free kick just outside the Khmer penalty area, up stepped Jason whose free kick clipped the wall ,the Khmer keeper palmed the ball away and from a tight angle Are put the ball into the back of the net and the Lions 2-1 up, but no the ref had blown his whistle for off side. Not sure how there was an off side but the lions have learnt to accept the ref decision and get on with the game. Despite controlling most of the possession the Lions were unable to carve out any more goal scoring opportunities and the final whistle blew with the score all even at 1-1.
Our Khmer opponents gave us a hard game and had many players from some of the stronger  teams playing for them. The game was also played in a good spirit.
The Lions team was.
