SENIOR COP ROBBED WITH FAKE GUN

Pich Soeun, a high-ranking police officer from Kampong Speu, was robbed with a fake gun on his way from work at around 5:30pm on Wednesday. Pich Soeun's motorbike was stolen after four unidentified men on two motorbikes blocked his way. The robbers fired their fake gun three times and this frightened Pich Soeun enough to hand over his prized possession. He was not injured. Police are trying to hunt the robbers.

Have to say ..... i'm not sure if I could tell the difference between a 'blank' firing and 'real' gun.
In the heat of the moment, i'd have probably done the same.

Sounds like these thieves are pretty cowardly. It's already four-on-one and they still need a gun to intimidate one lone guy?
Interesting that a cop could not tell the difference between a live round and a blank. You'd think he would have enough firing range experience to know.
Also, I loved this line:
"Police are trying to hunt the robbers."
[insert picture of Yoda here] "Do or do not. There is no try." You'd think police could do a bit better than "trying to hunt" as opposed to actually hunting (even if unsuccessful). Perhaps it's just a Khmer-glish error by the translator.

I think maybe the part the missed out is "the police are trying to hunt the robbers ..... but nobody wants to come up against a gun that isn't in their own hand"
