Sihanoukville has a great reputation for low cost accomodation, as such it’s becoming a great place for travellers to take a break from their ‘trek’ and take time out on the Cambodian Beaches.
We’ve taken a look around Ochheuteal and have come up with a list of guesthouses that we would recommend to anyone on the ‘ultimate’ budget, under 10 dollars per night.
1 – Cloud9, Serendipity Beach. Situated at the very end of the beach and surrounded by greenery, Cloud9 bungalows is the best place to relax after your ‘hard day’. Accomodation consists of seven cosy Khmer style bungalows and facilities include a lively bar and seaview restaurant. Free WiFi.
2 – Mick & Craig’s, Ochheuteal. Best known for their excellent food, Mick and Craig’s consists of an airy restaurant serving a great selection of food for the budget, but quality concious traveller. The rooms at the rear are new, clean and have four-poster beds! Free WiFi.
3 – Beach Road, Ochheuteal. Prices here vary enormously depending on who you speak with and, I guess, how they feel! But I’m told rooms can be had for less than 10 dollars, you may have to haggle though. Nice bar and great location, just across from Mick & Craig’s, both being a short walk to the beach.
4 – Tranquility Guesthouse. Right on Serendipity Beach, Tranquility Guesthouse offers bungalow accomodation, a small friendly bar and a quality restaurant. Down at the ‘quiet’ end of the beach, this is the perfect place to unwind.
5 – New Seaview Villa. On the road down from Ochheuteal to Serendipity Beach, this newly renovated resort offers alfresco dining in their European restaurant and a breezy Rooftop Terrace.
These five businesses are listed in no particular order and we can confidentally say that no matter which of these guesthouses you stay at, it will be 10 dollars very well spent!
All have been recommended because of their friendly staff, that was a prerequisite for inclusion, but also because of the range of facilities available. Obviously at this price range, the rooms will be Fan Rooms, but the cleanliness and quality should still be there.
Enjoy your stay!

I feel myself very close to the nature and my experience was pretty good in the port city Sihanoukville in the middle of 2008. I am getting some amazing discount offers provided by The Accor Group and planned to go out for holiday in Bnagkok this time. I feel it’s a great opportunity in this recession period.
